How did it all start?

In the beginning

The earliest meetings were after work drinking sessions in the luxurious surroundings of Weatherspoons in London's Victoria Station.  Old friends and colleagues working for Midas IT and HypoVereinsbank used to keep in touch and talk about hot topics from the world of Plex.
In 2001 George Jeffcock suggested a change of venue to All Bar One in Cannon Street, a more comfortable and convenient venue for the city gents.  The location attracted a broader crowed from Plex sites around central London who were invited by an e-mail from George or read a posting created by Dave Smethurst on the Synposium forum, both messages had the title "Plex in the City"  and the name stuck.

Early faces

A list of attendees has been compiled to serve as an historical record.  Some of these people are no longer moving in Plex circles, there rest of us solider on!
In no particular order, the hall of shame: George Jeffcock, Dave Smethurst, Mark Hill, Kalpesh Patel, Steve Pepper, Gary Roll, Paul Clark, Matthew Morris, Steve Bailey, Adrian Smith, James Tasker, Steve Tocker....

Have you been left out..?

Version 2

Several more PITC get together's were held in Cannon Street throughout 2001 and 2002 and the early part of 2003.  By this time a strong regular crowd were meeting from about 5pm with many people keeping the party going until being kicked out onto the street at 11pm.  Special guest appearances were made by people from CA, with a warm London welcome being extended to visitors from overseas.  It was common for people to go "on" to Brick Lane for a curry or even to "dance" the night away premier locations such as Browns.

PITC on tour

Plex in the City made an appearance at the 2003 EDGE conference in New Orleans.  Bill Hunt got things off the ground, and he made sure to invite 2e users along too.  Jeremy Yearon kept the British end up and represented the whole of the UK at the event.

Upgrades

During 2003 CA were on the look out for Plex consultants and got to hear of the PITC outings.  Two polite gentlemen in suits appeared in All Bar One and bought a drink for anyone who would write their e-mail address on the provided regulation issue CA clipboard.  Much excitement was felt at the prospect of a Plex marketing initiative from CA.

The venue was also varied to include pubs with a broader selection of drinks and tables for people to lean against.  The first of these, in August, was headlined "Plex In The West End" by Jeremy Yearon to make sure nobody got lost.  Regulars were joined by staff from KPC, CA's new partner in delivering Plex resources.
