European Partnership
27th June 2007 - WindsorIt's been a few years since a PITC hosted our continental Plex cousins. So it's good to know that large numbers will be visiting the CA offices next week. To offer a warm welcome there will be a Plex In The City held on Wednesday 27th June in Windsor from 6:30pm onwards. An appropriate royal venue has been suggested, The King And Castle. http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/pubfinder/details.php?OutletNumber=69

See you at the next event on the 12th of May.

The next PITC is scheduled for the end of May. We will be at All Bar One, opposite Cannon Street station. See you all there.
In the meantime take a look at the happenings from the 7th of April.
Bar-CamPITC returned to Cannon Street for the first meeting of 2005.
While the rain fell on commuters outside the window, Plex developers relaxed and caught up with the happenings around the city.
Spring had sprung for the Barman who produced his trusty Bar-Cam to capture these (fuzzy) images.
For those of you who couldn't make it on the evening, the magic of Bar-Cam has produced a virtual All Bar One. Order a drink and relax, it's just like being there.
Looking forward to next time.

The December Plex in the City reunited some long absent Plexers with the PITC family.
Of particular mention is Mr G Jeffcock (pictured left), a founder member of PITC who returns with a wonderful tan from his time in Bermuda. Nice to see you George.
Thanks also to the new faces for making the trip, hope that you enjoyed yourselves.
Next PITC will be some time in February. Probably.
See some pictures of the December 2004 PITC.

Date : Wednesday 8th December
Venue : The Harcout Arms Directions...
This is a pub with a strong Swedish theme which is welcoming and comfortable, just right for a PITC.
It's close to several tube stations around Baker Street so you'll all be ok to get home.
See you there from 6'ish.

The Barman has received a sack load of messages following the recent PITC at the Monkey Puzzle.
Thank you to "valoos" for sending his question;
" I'm curious to know who is who, I'm always reading posts on edge user group, would like to put a face to those names. "
Valoos, most of us can't remember our own names after attending a Plex In The City, let alone who was who. Sorry about that, perhaps we will have to try and address this problem at a future gathering.
Bill Hunt was on the ball though, he has sent us a list of the nationalities attending the most recent PITC;
"For the record, we had representation last night from:
- - UK
- - USA
- - Switzerland
- - Finland
- - Sweden
- - Denmark
- - Germany
- - Spain
- - Portugal
- - Slovenia
- - Italy
- - Iceland
Looking forward to next time - I'll try to make it back in September... Bill"
Good work Bill, hope to see you inthe city very soon.
Finally, one Plexer who could not make it to this PITC sent us an email and some photos. She is the white crayon in the picture.
"I have to ask William Hunt to take me with him next time he visits you guys. You guys need more women developers over there.
Nice party.
Eniko"

Everyone is welcome at PITC, so we hope to see you next time Eniko.
Keep the emails coming in, it gives the Barman something to do when it is quiet.
There will be another Plex In The City gathering very soon.

A huge number of Plex developers battled the elements to attend the April PITC at the Monkey Puzzle. The happy crowd was joined by Plex people from across Europe and cheerful CA staff.
Pictures of the evening can be seen here. If you want to put names to the faces drop the Barman an email
It was also the first time for some of us to meet the enigmatic Chuck Maggot. Chuck made a very rare public appearance, and requested "no photos, no autographs". We were able to snap this profile of the great man without arousing his suspicion.

With CA holding a big Plex v5.5 training seminar for Plex partners from across Europe it is a fine time to have a meet up.
A change of venue to somewhere closer to Paddington Station has been requested. We will be meeting in the Monkey Puzzle in Southwick Street, details and directions are here.

With the usual selection of ale, larger, stout and cider dedicated Plex In The City delegates applied themselves to the task of putting the world to rights last Wednesday night.
The photos of the evening are here now. That's not all, we are pleased to bring you a real scoop. "Plex In The City : The Movie"
PTIC has received a message from Mr Bill Hunt. Not only is Bill a nice American chap but he also has a company credit card and a liking for London's finest curry. This could have the makings of a mighty pan-european get together at the end of April.
More plans closer to the time.
Hi Barman, We are holding Plex 5.5 training in the UK for our distributors throughout Europe the week of 26-April. As such there will be a sizeable contingency of Plex people from all over Europe there for a few days (and me as well - I'm coming over the pond to help deliver this training). I'd like to organize a PITC for either Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th, or Wednesday 28th of April. Can you help me figure out what day would work best of the three and help me get this together?
Hope you guys had fun at the Griffin; sorry I missed it. Maybe that venue would work again but feel free to suggest something else and let me know. Of course when I'm involved it usually means something reasonably close to Brick Lane is always good! :-) Hope to see you in April. Best, Bill Hunt Product Manager Computer Associates

There are some Plex projects out there with tough deadlines right now and the pressure is starting to bite. What better way to stay on top of things than to have a drink and a chat with people who are on your side?
If you haven't been to a Plex In The City event before why not drop in to the first one for 2004, everyone is welcome.
Wednesday 18th February - The Griffin.

Happy New Year to you all.
January is a recovery month for most of us, but you can be sure that someone will suggest a get together before too long.
In the meantime we can all keep busy by fielding the hundreds calls from recruitment agents offering us exciting projects at fantastic hourly rates. If that isn't happening to you then there is always the last of the Sherry to be drunk.
See you all soon...

Will YOU be there?
The gent's at Macmillan are getting worried that they will be the only ones at the Griffin on Thursday 4th December.
PlexInTheCity.org will be there to record the high powered discussions for future generations, and it looks like some other regular faces have confirmed too.
See you all there, any time after 6pm.

Nice to hear from you!
It is always nice to receive messages here @PlexInTheCity.org, particularly when it is someone that has not been around for a while.
So, we welcome back Mr. Mark Hill, who was last seen by us at a Plex In the City near London Victoria Station. That was before they were even called "Plex in the City". That is a long time ago.
We hope that he returns from his around the world adventures to the warmth of the PITC family in time for the next bash on Thursday 4th December in The Griffin.
Mark's wit is as sharp as ever, and has contributed these suggestions to our happy band. Quote;
"
So what's the strapline going to be, 'drinkers with a coding problem', 'drinkers with a predisposition to inheritance', 'the drinking class'...
"
Surely we don't need cheap slogans at a PITC? Just some light conversation, a few drinks and some close up magic tricks!
Not long to go...

The next get together is planned for Thursday 4th December in The Griffin.
Our regular address is now active across the web, so make sure you bookmark us.
The mail server is also configured, you can send feedback to info@plexinthecity.org
We are looking for more input for the history section, and perhaps some photos. I remember seeing a camera at least once. Send any suggestions to the man who runs this place.
Don't forget suggestions for venues always welcome.

What's going on here?
A web site for Plex In The City, what for?
Plex developers in London have been getting together for after works drinks for several years now. This web site will tell you how it all started and keep you up to date with future events.
If you want to know how this all began then take a look at the History section.
See you at the next PITC.
